Disability in Advertising

So yesterday The Warehouse latest catalogue came out in stores which features myself and my friend Lily-Mae (who also lives with a disability) modelling kids clothes. The public reaction to this has been so huge in a positive way. Very often those with disabilities are portrayed in the media and advertising as either victims or heroes. But we all are just regular people. Its awesome The Warehouse see that as well. Hope more companies will do the same.

I have been with an acting agency for several years, yet I rarely have any auditions for TV Commercials, and that's mainly because I use a wheelchair. While the Casting Directors like me, the people who design the commercials have a certain type of person in mind and it does not include a person in a wheelchair. Hopefully in the future this will change.
